Night 1 Recap

Songs/Opening

VBS kicked off with a lot of energy! Song time got everyone warmed up and ready to have some fun.
Every year we make sure there are some rules to keep the chaos under wraps. We only have four rules: Let’s see…rule number one is sit up straight, rule number two is keep your hands to yourself, and number three is be quiet (but only when we need quiet). Rule number four is…oh, it’s game time! We’ll cover that one soon!

Game Time

First game for the night was a bouncing ball race; 3 boys vs 3 girls. Bounce from one end, leave your cowboy (or cowgirl!) hat and bounce back to the other side. The boys took and early lead, but keeping balance is hard! The boys won the first round!

In the second round, the boys once again took an early lead, and the girls gave them a run for their money. Ultimately the boys claimed victory in the second round as well!

The second game was a bandana grab at different distances and deposit them in the bucket. The boys took the first round quickly and dominated the second round as well. The girls put in great effort, but it wasn’t enough to finish before the boys!

The final game was tic-tac-toe dash. Boys and girls have to run down the aisle and deliver a bandana and run back. The first team to complete a tic-tac-toe is the winner. The girls took a commanding lead using quick judgement for both rounds!

Skit

[We're still trying to find words that make sense to accurately describe the amazing acting ability of all our actors.]

Penny Drive

The penny drive is one of the most exciting things that the kids get to participate in every year. The boys and girls continuously fill buckets attached to a scale and whoever can keep the scales tipped in their favor wins for the night! Last year we raised over $6,000 for our sponsored missionaries.

Tonight’s missionary is Jeremiah & Ambre Heershberger who are in ministry serving God’s servants.

The boys took and early lead, but the girls quickly moved the balance in their favor and kept the lead for quite some time. The boys finally managed to shake down enough adults to take the lead, even if it only was for a moment. The girls just couldn’t be stopped and managed to keep their lead until the very end!

We'll make sure to post updates about how much money is raised for each missionary or missionary family. 100% of the money raised will be sent!

Puppet Show

We meet our characters for this year’s show, we meet Bucktooth Bill who is wanted! There were wanted posters posted all over town. We meet the Sherrif of Tumbleweed as well. Bucktooth Bill is not a very good person. He’s a no good, dirty rotten scoundrel who is always up to no good. The Sheriff had to clear up some confusion on what Bill was wanted for. He wasn’t wanted dead or alive or had a large cash bounty for his return. He was wanted…by God! God wanted Bill to be saved. After Bill bowed his head and prayed for Jesus to save him, Bill was shocked to know he was still WANTED by God! What else did he do wrong?? Nothing! Even after salvation God still wants you: to continue learning about Jesus.

Preaching

Bro. Terry Collins delivered the message tonight
Paul - the most wanted man on the planet. How did Paul get to a place where he was killing, and punishing Christians and he did it willingly?

Paul was educated, spoke different languages and understood the scriptures. Even though he had all this knowledge, he couldn’t understand who Jesus was and what Christianity was about. Jews and gentiles alike were learning about Jesus and what being a Christian was like and Paul wanted to put a stop to this. On his was to Damascus, Paul was knocked off his horse and blinded. God got Paul’s attention.

There are some kids that are living a life that is not pleasing to God, but God can still use those kids as well. We can live a life that appears one way and we can feel good about that. We can tell a lie to ourselves and convince ourselves that how living a sinful life is acceptable and good. That is farther from the truth! God wants your to know you’re WANTED. He wants you to get saved!
